Our Curriculum
Pre-K – 6th grade are self-contained classrooms. Our 7th & 8th grade, or Jr. High students, are on a block schedule and receive instruction from three separate teachers based on subject. All students attend weekly special area classes that consist of: Art, Music, Computer, Spanish, and Physical Education.

English Language Arts
Our comprehensive English Language Arts program empowers students to become confident, capable communicators, rooted in research-based practices. Our approach integrates reading, writing, speaking, and listening across all grade levels. From foundational skills in the early years to critical analysis and expressive writing in upper grades, students engage in meaningful texts and tasks that support deep understanding and language development.
With a strong emphasis on differentiation and student voice, our literacy program equips every learner with the tools to thrive — in school and beyond.

Response to Intervention (RTI)
St. Rita School implements a comprehensive Response to Intervention (RTI) framework to support student growth and academic success. In grades 5–8, students participate in W.I.N. Time (What I Need) for math, where instruction is tailored to meet individual learning needs—whether for remediation or enrichment. Reading support is provided through differentiated instruction within the classroom. In grades K–4, students receive small-group reading and math interventions led by skilled interventionists and classroom teachers, focusing on building essential skills or engaging in enrichment activities.
All teachers, interventionists, and school staff collaborate regularly to analyze student data and plan purposeful instruction. This shared effort ensures interventions are prescriptive, intentional, and responsive, giving every student the opportunity to thrive.

Chromebook One-to-One Program
St. Rita Catholic School provides a one-to-one Chromebook program for all students in grades K–8. Each student is assigned a Chromebook during portions of the school day, supporting instruction across all subjects and helping students build essential skills in critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
Students in grades 7 and 8 participate in an extended one-to-one program. Through an annual technology fee, these students are permitted to take their Chromebooks home each night, allowing for greater flexibility in completing assignments and continuing their learning beyond the classroom. Upon graduation, 8th grade students get to keep their Chromebook.

Peer Learning Groups
Neuroscience research suggests that the brain seeks social interaction. Therefore, instead of students being mere spectators in the classroom, our teachers design and facilitate instruction that allow students to seek relevance and meaning of content through peer collaborative groups.

Science
Our science curriculum is powered by TCI, a dynamic, hands-on program that brings scientific concepts to life through exploration, collaboration, and real-world application. Rooted in an inquiry-based approach, TCI blends engaging digital content, interactive notebooks, and hands-on investigations to deepen student understanding and curiosity. Aligned with national standards and designed to meet diverse learning needs, TCI supports critical thinking, problem-solving, and academic excellence—preparing our students to explore God’s creation with wonder and purpose.

MAP
The NWEA MAP Test is an adaptive, computer-based assessment for grades 3-8 in reading, language, and math and for K-2 students in reading and math. It adapts to each student’s learning level, providing personalized data for instructional planning and progress tracking.

Math
Our rigorous math program challenges students to think critically, solve problems creatively, and develop a deep understanding of essential mathematical concepts. Aligned with grade-level standards and best practices, our instruction emphasizes conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and real-world application. To ensure every student reaches their full potential, our daily schedule includes dedicated W.I.N. (What I Need) time — targeted support that allows for both remediation and enrichment based on individual student needs. Whether reinforcing key skills or extending learning, W.I.N helps us meet students where they are and move them forward with confidence.

Advanced Math
We offer an Advanced Math Program designed to challenge and inspire our students, beginning in 7th grade and continuing through 8th grade. This accelerated program provides rigorous instruction, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and mathematical confidence.
Students in our advanced math track benefit from an enriched curriculum, preparing them effectively for higher-level mathematics in high school and beyond. Our goal is to nurture each student's mathematical potential, encouraging a lifelong appreciation for learning and achievement.

Social Studies
Social Studies at St. Rita focuses on helping students develop a deep understanding of history, geography, civics, and economics.
Through engaging lessons and hands-on activities, students explore the world around them, gaining critical thinking skills and an appreciation for diverse cultures and global issues.
